My first love of the marine life on our planet started back when I was 14 and learned to scuba dive with my father in Jamaica, just a pool session made me realise being under the water was where I needed to be. Upon diving on the coral reefs and encountering my first octopus on my first dive sparked a fascination that only ever gets stronger. After diving holidays just weren't enough I took to the professional level and working freelance as a divemaster. Travelling up and down the Great Barrier reef picking up work guiding divers on the reefs and experiencing their amazement with the marine life never stopped making an impression. Once through university I was seeking to return to the marine world but this time to try and make a difference. Volunteering in the Seychelles surveying juvenile coral recruitment was my first step into conservation work, since then over the next few years I gained employment for two other groups and eventually leading projects in scientific and expedition leader roles.

Interests

When I can't be in the water which is often more than I would like I am a keen competitor through a variety of sports, being active I believe is extremely important in life and in education to learn about yourself and everything around you. My favourite activities outside of diving are playing field hockey and cricket, thankfully being in different seasons I get to play both when I am in the country. Overseas normally volleyball takes over and running as often as I can although the heat often makes this very early in the morning. I often follow football on the television but the biggest sporting event for me every year is the Six Nations rugby tournament and any other rugby international fixtures and international cricket fixtures however finding the time and the place to watch these is often difficult.

A bit about who I am

My passion for anything I think stems from my competitive background which in turn makes me work very hard towards things I want to achieve. I have become a very goal orientated and driven individual since being in the conservation world and seeing the work that needs to be done. Below are some links directly to my hobbies of underwater photograph and videography and examples of my academic work to date.
